Leamington business receives $500K from province, will create 24 jobs

A Leamington-based manufacturer has received a boost from Queens Park as it moves forward with a multi-million-dollar expansion.

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones announced on Tuesday that UE Enclosures Inc., which creates custom electrical enclosures for the auto, power, and solar industries, will get a $500,000 grant from the provincial government to support the investment.

The investment will create 24 new jobs.

"Our government is building a strong Ontario and creating the conditions for a strong economy by supporting key investments in our community," said Jones. "UE Enclosures’ investment will boost the local manufacturing sector and create more good-paying jobs for workers and families in Leamington."

The provincial contribution comes from the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF).

"By enhancing our production capabilities, not only have we been able to meet the rising demand for our custom enclosures across North America but also making a lasting commitment to our community," said UE Enclosures Inc. President George Bergen. "This growth has and will continue to provide stable, well-paying opportunities for local workers and strengthen our impact within the Ontario manufacturing sector.”

According to its official website, UE Enclosures Inc. was founded in 1991 under the name UniFab. It became a standalone company in 2000. They create enclosures that protect electrical transformers, solar panels, and other components.
