Residents in LaSalle will pay around $232 more in municipal taxes next year.
Town council approved the 2025 budget with a general levy of $50 million, a 5.98 per cent increase over last year.
“It is never easy to prioritize one need over another. I think that we have moved forward with a fiscally responsible budget that provides our residents with the services that they expect. Some difficult decisions have been made throughout this process,” said Mayor Crystal Meloche.
Town administration presented a draft budget with a recommended increase of 7 per cent. To reach the final tax rate reductions were made to insurance, staffing, strategic plan initiatives, the asset management plan, the fire master plan and information technology.
Increases from the 2024 budget include policing costs, master plan funding, capital reserves and inflationary changes.
As part of the capital budget, council approved $3 million for the construction of pickleball courts. A detailed design will be developed before funding is granted at a future council meeting.
