U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have reminded cross-border travelers about the consequences of transporting weapons and undeclared money.
According to Detroit Field Office Operations Director Marty C. Raybon, two people were denied entry into Windsor on December 9.
The pair, both of them convicted felons, attempted to get rid of a weapon by throwing it from their vehicle while returning to the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel's U.S. checkpoint.
The weapon was recovered, and it was also determined that the pair had about $12,000 in undeclared cash.
CBP have reminded travelers that while carrying large amounts of cash is not illegal, it must be declared if the amount is $10,000 or more.
The money was also seized. Neither of the men were charged.
