A LaSalle woman is among the latest appointments to the Order of Ontario.
Margery Holman will be invested in the order at a ceremony in Toronto along with 28 other Ontarians.
"The 2024 appointees to the Order of Ontario have enriched the lives of countless people in our province and well beyond,” said the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. “Together, they have attained the highest level of excellence in many fields, and may we all be inspired by their remarkable contributions.”
Holman, who grew up in Ridgetown, was a professor in the University of Windsor's Kinesiology department. She spent her career improving the Canadian sport landscape for girls and women.
She addressed systemic inequities in sports, including sexual harassment, abuse, and hazing, while creating ethical, equitable alternative practices.
Holman was also recognized by the May Court Club of Chatham earlier this year as one of its Women of Excellence for 2024 in the Education and Training category.
