Two charged following Windsor weapon and drug raid

A variety of weapons and suspected illicit drugs were among the items seized by Windsor police in a raid on Friday.

Members of the Drugs and Guns Enforcement (DIGS) Unit executed a warrant at a home on McKay Avenue near Pelletier Street. Officers had learned about alleged drug trafficking at the location.

A search of the house uncovered 12.9 grams of fentanyl, three morphine capsules, and four oxycodone pills, at a total street value of over $3,500.

Five pellet guns, a crossbow, and four arrows were also confiscated.

"While pellet guns are not considered firearms, they can cause alarm in the community due to their resemblance to real handguns and increase the risk of harm during police and public encounters," read a release from Windsor police.

Three people were arrested inside the house. Two of them were later released without charges, but the third, a 42-year-old man, has been charged with drug possession with intent to sell, and 18 counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited.

A 23-year-old woman at the home was charged with breach of probation.

The charges have not been proven in court.
