The Town of Kingsville will be able to build more homes thanks to infrastructure funding from the province of Ontario.
Essex MPP Anthony Leardi announced on Thursday afternoon an investment of $7.4-million, to create infrastructure to begin the construction of 2,927 homes.
"This investment is about putting the dream of homeownership back in the hands of a generation," said Leardi. "Our government is committed to building more homes and ensuring our communities have the tools they need to grow and thrive."
Mayor Dennis Rogers said the investment will help Kingsville keep up with housing demand and general growth.
The money will go toward the West Side Collector Road project, stretching from the Heritage Road extension to Road 2 West.
"We are committed to investing in critical infrastructure, to make sure our community is strong, our residents and business are prioritized, and our long-term vision remains in sight," said Rogers. "On behalf of Kingsville, we’re thrilled to receive this funding from the province, and we thank the Ontario Government for their support in helping us advance our strategic priorities and bring meaningful improvements to our residents now, and for years to come."
The money comes from Queens Park's Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Stream under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, a $400-million fund to help build roads, culverts, bridges, and other infrastructure to support housing development.
