Essex to eliminate tenant water and wastewater accounts

The Town of Essex is looking to streamline how it handles water accounts.

Starting April 1, the Town will close all tenant water and wastewater accounts and transition them into the property owner's name.

Property owners will take responsibility for the accounts on that date, though tenants may still be added as secondary account holders.

"We believe this change will streamline the water and wastewater billing process for both property owners and tenants," said Mayor Sherry Bondy. "We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work to implement this update."

Property owners will be required to complete an account authorization form and include any tenants they would like on the account. The completed form must be returned no later than March 26.

Tenants are urged to check with property owners regarding access to the new accounts.
