The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is urging some residents to boil water before using it.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Mehdi Aloosh has issued a boil water advisory for waterline consumers serviced by the Amherstburg Water Distribution System.
Most of the advisory is in the Town of Essex, with smaller portions of Amherstburg, LaSalle, and Tecumseh.
A water main break that caused a significant drop in water pressure is the reason for the advisory.

"The WECHU is working closely with the Amherstburg Public Works Department," read a release from the health unit. "The boil water advisory measure will remain in place until system repairs are complete and satisfactory water sampling results are received."
The health unit recommends that residents in this area boil their water for one minute before consuming, infant feeding, or cooking.
