Boil water advisory rescinded by health unit

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) has given an all-clear to some area residents concerning drinking water.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Mehdi Aloosh has lifted the boil-water advisory that was issued on Monday.

The advisory was due to a water main break that caused a serious drop in water pressure throughout the Amherstburg Water Distribution System.

Most of the advisory covered the Town of Essex, with smaller portions of Amherstburg, LaSalle, and Tecumseh involved.

"The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is informing users that required water samples have been taken and meet drinking water quality standards," read a release from the health unit. "Our staff will continue to work closely with the Amherstburg Public Works Water Distribution System and will ensure consumers are notified of any water quality changes."

Questions concerning water quality in this area may be directed to the health unit's Environmental Health Department at (519) 258-2146, ext. 4475, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
