14 arrested over three days in Glengarry neighbourhood

Windsor Police arrested 14 people, laid 22 charges, and executed ten arrest warrants in the Glengarry neighbourhood over three days.

Those charges include failure to comply with a release order, theft under $5,000, and trespassing.

Between last Thursday and Saturday, the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit and the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation focused on apartment buildings in the 300 and 400 block of Glengarry Avenue.

The arrests are the latest step in the police service's initiative to improve safety and quality of life in the neighbourhood.

Starting last August, more police officers and human services professionals were stationed in the area, which has faced challenges with crime and social disorder.

"These arrests highlight our continued commitment to addressing criminal activity," said Inspector of Patrol Response Robert Wilson. "At the same time, we remain focused on collaborating with community partners to provide essential resources and long-term support services."

The efforts are paying off. Last December, Windsor Police reported that crimes against people were down by 32 per cent, property crimes fell ten per cent, and drug-related crime dropped 30 per cent.

Police made 22 arrests last August and 24 a month later.
