Windsor police investigation into fatal crash continues

Windsor police are continuing their probe of a fatal weekend crash.

Officers were called to Tecumseh Road East and Pillette Road shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, they discovered a rental moving truck had been driven onto the sidewalk, struck a pedestrian, and crashed into a business.

A 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Windsor Police Collision Reconstructive Unit provided an update on Monday afternoon, saying that police continue to gather evidence, analyze the scene, and speak with witnesses.

A loaded firearm was found in the rental truck.

A 28-year-old woman was charged with possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of a firearm with no licence, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a prohibited device, possession of a prohibited device and careless storage of a firearm.

Additional charges are expected.

Police say that at this time, there is no evidence that the victim and the driver knew each other.
