Municipality announces hiring of new CAO

North Huron has announced the hiring of a new CAO following a lengthy search.

In a release on March 10, the municipality unveiled that Nelson Santos has been hired as the new Chief Administrative Officer after a search that began in December of last year.

Santos will begin his duties on March 17, following the CAO Appointment By-law to be passed that evening at the council meeting.

The release shares that Santos has over twenty years of governance and public administration experience. Most recently, Santos served as CAO for the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio and has also held several other leadership roles, including Mayor and CEO for the Town of Kingsville.

Santos has also been Warden, Deputy Warden, and Councillor for Essex County, Executive Director for the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation and Managing Editor for the Kingsville Reporter.

"We are excited and look forward to the valuable contributions Nelson’s extensive experience and leadership skills will bring," said Township of North Huron Reeve Paul Heffer. "On behalf of Council and the entire organization, I congratulate him on his new role as the Township’s CAO."
