Glengarry no longer the top most neighbourhood for violent crimes

The Glengarry neighbourhood is no longer on the police's top-ten areas with violent crime.

Windsor Police Service has had a consistent presence in the neighbourhood along with the Family Services Windsor-Essex, and the Canadian Mental Health Association since August 2024.

"With police officers and partners being in there to support people that are in need we get to the calls for service before things escalate and I think having that ability for people to have access to us and to partners and to resources, it certainly has a positive impact," said Superintendent Paolo DiCarlo.

DiCarlo said they will continue to use their data to focus their resources accordingly.

"We will still obviously respond to violent crime and to 911 calls as we are required to do but essentially, the idea here is to slowly remove ourselves from areas making sure that they are sustainable without our presence there," said DiCarlo.
