A brand of birth control pills is being recalled after one lot of the medication may have an extra assortment of yellow pills.
Teva Canada Ltd. has issued the recall of one lot of Seasonique pills due to the possibility of having an extra row of yellow pills in Tray 1 and/or Tray 2 of the blister cards, where there should be none.
The extra yellow pills may increase the risk of unplanned pregnancy.
"When packaged correctly, as shown in the above picture, Seasonique pills come in extended-cycle tablet dispensers, each containing a 13-week supply of pills divided in three blister cards," read the recall notice. "Tray 1 and Tray 2 each contain a blister card with 28 blue-green tablets. Tray 3 contains a blister card with 35 tablets, 28 blue-green tablets and seven yellow tablets."
If you are taking Seasonique, do not skip any blue-green doses. Check the packaging, and if you see an extra row of yellow pills in Trays 1 and/or 2, don't take them. Instead, return them to your pharmacy as soon as possible to get the correct medication or an alternate product.
If you are not sure if your prescription has the correct allotment of pills, see your pharmacist.
The lot number in question is #100069151, with an expiry date of January 31, 2027.
