Suspect sought in hit-and-run crashes involving stolen vehicles

Windsor police have called on the public for tips after two separate crashes involving stolen vehicles this week.

Police say the first call was at around 1 a.m. on Monday on Askin Avenue near Liberty Street, involving a Jeep Cherokee. A short time later, the same Cherokee was involved in a hit-and-run crash in the area of California Avenue and Grand Marais Road.

Later that day, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Randolph Avenue near Grand Marais. This time, it was a Kia Sedona that was taken.

The Sedona was later involved in a hit-and-run collision on Monmouth Road and Niagara Street in Olde Walkerville.

No injuries were reported, but police say the same suspect was involved in both vehicle thefts.

Residents and business owners in South Windsor north of Cabana Road, and in Olde Walkerville, are asked to check any security or dashcam footage from the morning hours of Monday and give police a call if they see something unusual.

Anyone with information should call Windsor police's Target Base Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4350. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
