Police offer tips to ensure Fireworks night is fun

Windsor Police want you and your family to have fun Monday night at the Ford Fireworks, so it's offering tips.

The tips include taking a photo of your children at the start of the evening in the clothes they're wearing to the fireworks display. Police also suggest making sure your child knows your phone number and, if they're old enough, has identification. Choose a meeting spot to meet if you get separated, and if your child gets lost, report it to the police immediately.

Several roads in downtown Windsor will closed at 6 p.m. on Monday. If you park in a no-parking zone, your vehicle will be ticketed and towed.

To avoid congestion downtown, police recommend walking to the riverfront, biking, or taking the bus. Transit Windsor buses are free after 6 p.m. on Monday, and free shuttle service is available to and from Devonshire Mall.

The fireworks start at 10:08 p.m. and should end at 10:32 p.m.
