Many Windsor-Essex residents will take time out to celebrate Canada Day on Tuesday.
The nation's 158th birthday is a statutory holiday, so many businesses and institutions will be closed on Canada Day, or at least on abbreviated hours.
All federal, provincial, and municipal offices in Windsor-Essex will be closed, including all Service Ontario locations. However, some transactions such as licence plate renewals may be performed online.
The 311 call centre will be closed. The 211 call centre, though, will be open 24 hours as usual.
Residential garbage and recycling collection in the City of Windsor will not take place on Tuesday, and be delayed by one day. Commercial, front-end loader, and weekly non-eligible source recycling collections will continue as normal.
The public drop-off and household chemical waste depot at Central Avenue and the E.C. Row is closed Canada Day.
The H-4 program at Windsor Water World is open 24 hours for those looking for housing or homelessness help.
All community centres, customer care centres, and arenas in Windsor are closed Tuesday except for scheduled events or pre-booked rentals. The City's summer day camp programs will pause on Canada's birthday.
All Windsor Public Library and Essex Public Library branches are closed on Tuesday.
The indoor pools at the WFCU Centre and the Gino and Liz Marcus Community Complex are closed on Tuesday. The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre's poll is also closed, but the fitness centre will be open on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The City's six outdoor pools will be open as normal for recreational swimming. Sandpoint Beach in Windsor, however, remains closed indefinitely for swimming due to safety concerns. The park area, though, remains open.
Adventure Bay Family Water Park is open on Canada Day, and every day through Labour Day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All splash pads in the City of Windsor are open on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Lakeview Park Marina's launch ramps will be open on Canada Day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The office and fuel dock will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The LCBO is closed on Canada Day.
Most Beer Store locations in Windsor-Essex are closed, except for the location in Leamington on Erie Street South, and those in Windsor on Walker Road near Ypres and Tecumseh Road East off Lauzon Road. Those will be open on Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and Tecumseh Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open on Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Francois Baby House and the Chimczuk Museum will be open on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Streetcar No. 351 at the Legacy Beacon will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There is no charge for street-metered parking in Windsor on Tuesday, but the city’s paid surface lots and garages will be open as usual. Municipal ticket payment offices will be closed.
Transit Windsor buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Canada Day. The downtown transit terminal's customer care centre will be closed.
