Concerns about the economy have pushed Windsor's unemployment rate to the highest in Canada.
Statistics Canada released its June Labour Force Survey on Friday morning, which reported that Windsor-Essex's unemployment rate increased by 0.4 percentage points to 11.2 per cent.
June was the third month in a row that Windsor's jobless rate was in double digits.
The local labour participation rate fell from 64.2 per cent in May to 63.7 per cent in June.
The population of Windsor-Essex remained the same at 408,000, but some 2,000 people left the workforce, and about 2,700 positions were lost.
Across Canada, the national economy added 83,000 net jobs, and the unemployment rate fell by a tenth of a percentage point to 6.9 per cent.
Employment for core-aged men, 25 to 54, rose by 62,000 positions, and for core-aged women, employment rose by 29,000 jobs.
Employment increases across Canada were the highest in wholesale and retail trade, with 34,000 net jobs added in June. Health care and social assistance jobs were up by 17,000. Jobs in agriculture fell by 6,000, but were relatively stable across other sectors.
The average number of hours worked between May and June went up half a percentage point from a year ago.
The average hourly wage grew 3.2 per cent, or by $1.10, to $36.01.
In Ontario, unemployment fell a tenth of a point to 7.8 per cent.
The Labour Force Survey for July will be released on August 8.
