The province has announced financial support for Leamington's greenhouse industry.
Leamington will receive $41-million to protect thousands of acres of greenhouse operations with better wastewater treatment services, supporting local food production.
"This investment is a clear example of our government's plan to protect Ontario's economy by supporting the people and the sectors that drive it," said Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.
Leamington is home to one of the largest greenhouse hubs in North America, and the Ontario government said the funding will help improve crop yield, quality, and drought resistance by ensuring a consistent water supply.
At the same announcement, the province also announced $135-million to build infrastructure supporting home construction in the Niagara Region.
More to come.
