Over three days, Windsor Police arrested 26 people in a retail theft initiative at nine local stores.
They teamed up with loss prevention teams between last Tuesday and Thursday, laid 30 criminal charges, and recovered $3,200 in stolen property.
Five of those arrested had outstanding warrants and one, a 29-year-old man, already faced 11 previous charges for theft related to incidents earlier in the year.
"Shoplifting isn't a victimless crime," said Inspector Jennifer Crosby. "It affects businesses, drives up costs for everyone, and can create unsafe situations for staff and customers. By working closely with our retail partners, our officers are taking a proactive approach to keep our community safe and hold offenders accountable."
