Seven drivers charged with impaired driving last weekend

The Ontario Provincial Police has revoked driving privileges for seven drivers in Essex County after they were called out to four separate crashes over the weekend.

The first call came in just after midnight last Saturday. Leamington OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Seacliff Drive East at County Road 33. The driver was showing signs of intoxication, so officers arrested a 39-year-old Amherstburg woman with impaired driving.

Three-and-a-half hours later, Tecumseh OPP were called to a two-vehicle crash on 10th Concession Road. A 48-year-old Essex man was charged and had his license suspended for 90 days.

A 30-year-old Windsor man was charged with impaired driving after a second two-vehicle crash just before 11 a.m. last Thursday. That was on Highway 3 at County Road 31 in Leamington. One of the drivers was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving.

Later that night, members of the Essex OPP were conducting a RIDE Stop on Talbot Road South when they arrested a 53-year-old Windsor man who is charged with impaired driving.

The OPP also responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on County Road 50 East in Colchester. Officers said the driver appeared impaired, and a 68-year-old Windsor man was charged.

A 40-year-old Oakville man is also charged with impaired driving after the OPP pulled him over on County Road 46 and Manning Road early Sunday morning.

The seventh driver charged with impaired driving is a 63-year-old LaSalle man who was arrested after a single-vehicle crash at the entrance to Point Pelee National Park just after noon on Monday.

The OPP asks anyone with information about these incidents, or any time you suspect someone is driving impaired, to call 1-888-310-1122, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or go to www.catchcrooks.com.
