The Windsor Assembly Plant will return to full operation next year.
Unifor Local 444, which represents plant employees, reported on social media Tuesday afternoon that the plant will bring back a third shift in 2026.
The post cited encouraging sales news.
Stellantis Canada spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin confirmed the return of the third shift in an email to WindsorNewsToday.ca.
"In anticipation of increased demand for the products built at the Windsor Assembly Plant, including all versions of the Chrysler Pacifica and the new SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger Scat Pack and R/T models, Stellantis confirms that it will be returning the plant to a three-shift operation in early 2026, honouring a commitment made during 2023 Unifor negotiations," said Gosselin.
During those talks, Stellantis agreed to reinstate the third shift once the capability for battery-electric model production was in place.
The return to full tilt was expected to happen this year, but was postponed by Stellantis due to preparation for 2026 model production, and though not mentioned at the time, the trade dispute with the U.S.
