'Magic mushroom' shop raid nets over $15K in illicit product

Windsor police have executed a raid on a downtown business that has already been hit multiple times.

Members of the Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit carried out the raid just before lunchtime on Wednesday, at the Fun Guyz dispensary on Ouellette Avenue.

The following items, totaling $15,740, were confiscated.

  • 51 bottles of psilocybin, or "magic mushroom" capsules

  • 84 packages of psilocybin-infused gummies

  • 69 psilocybin-infused chocolate bars

  • 112 packages of dried psilocybin

  • Two packages of candy freeze-dried psilocybin

  • Two psilocybin vape cartridges

  • $2,900 in Canadian currency

  • $100 in US currency

A 52-year-old employee was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

A notice by Health Canada explained that those who use magic mushrooms may get a lot more than they bargained for.

"Health Canada warns that taking magic mushrooms can cause people to 'see, hear or feel things that are not there, or to experience anxiety, fear, nausea and muscle twitches accompanied by increased heart rate and blood pressure',” read the notice via Windsor police's X account.

This business has been raided at least nine times by Windsor police for selling illicit products. The most recent one was in June.
