The City of Windsor is once again offering information for those who rely on Ontario Works benefits and vendors.
Now that Canada Post mail carriers are on strike, cheques will not be delivered, and vendors and Ontario Works recipients will need to pick up their cheques at Windsor City Hall.
Those who receive their cheques through direct deposit are not impacted.
Vendors who normally receive cheques by mail can instead pick them up at the 1st floor Finance window, 350 City Hall Square, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
City Hall is closed on Tuesday for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
Vendors must call 311 before coming to City Hall to confirm their cheque is ready. Bring two pieces of valid government identification when picking up your cheque.
Ontario Works recipients who receive their payments by cheque and those who need to reload their reloadable payment card can pick them up at 400 City Hall Square, Suite 102, on Mondays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those living in the county can pick up their cheques at the Leamington Office at 33 Princess Street on Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Before arriving at the cheque distribution centre, recipients are asked to call 1-800-808-2268 to ensure their cheque is ready for pick up.
Windsor residents who want to mail in payments to the city can courier those to the City of Windsor Finance Department, c/o 400 City Hall Square East, Windsor, Ontario, N9A 7K6.
