Windsor-Detroit Tunnel hopes to resolve Nexpress issue soon

The CEO of the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel hopes to have an issue with its Nexpress system fixed sometime Tuesday afternoon.

Tal Czudner told WindsorNewsToday.ca the tunnel is in the midst of a system upgrade.

"We were migrating some of the data between Windsor and Detroit. Too much data was sent over by one of our contractors. That caused a loop, so a lot of the customer information cycled through multiple times," said Czudner.

He said officials realized some customers were being charged multiple times on their credit cards.

The decision was made late Monday afternoon to turn off the Nexpress system.

"We didn't want to take away the discount, so what we did was we dropped all the tolls down to $5.90," explained Czudner. "Anybody who was charged too much, we will credit all of those charges."

All the tolls were reduced on Tuesday morning.

Nexpress travellers received an email on Monday night, and Czudner recommends keeping an eye on the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel's social media for updates.

"We do have records of all of our transactions and all of our customers, so we expect to get those resolved in the next day," added Czudner, apologizing for any inconvenience.
