Engage Windsor has launched a new Community Check-in Survey to receive feedback about quality of life, city services, and priorities for the future of the city.
Engage Windsor is a community organization and advocacy group dedicated to empowering residents to influence local government, increase council transparency, and improve city services.
The survey will be available until early May, giving residents the chance to share their thoughts on how the city is performing while highlighting the issues that need the most attention from local leaders.
The initiative comes as the October 2026 municipal election approaches.
"Once the survey closes, we're hoping to really take an in-depth look at how people have answered on a word-by-word basis," said Josh Sankarlal, co-chair of the organization. "We're hoping to use that information to really put out assessments or guides for residents to help navigate the municipal election and match up what the average answers per word were with a candidate who meets the needs that we've seen in the survey responses for that ward."
Sankarlal hopes they will receive 1,000 responses but said numbers do not define the organization's success.
"What Engage finds most important is starting community conversations about municipal politics," he said as he emphasized the priority of starting conversations, getting residents to think ahead about who they're voting for, and holding local leaders accountable.
"Getting involved early is really crucial to making sure that the problems that impact you on a day-to-day life, that's where municipal government can make a change in your life," said Sankarlal. "It can be a positive change if we work together to make it happen."
