A downward trend continues for Windsor and Amherstburg residents, according to a report released by Windsor police on Tuesday.
The crime statistics for September are out, and they show that personal and property crime has dropped in both communities.
Personal crime went down by double digits, with an 11 per cent decline compared to September 2024. When looking at 2025 to date, the rate was down by 4.9 per cent in contrast to the year 2024 to date.
Officers took 282 personal crime reports in September, while 2,336 such complaints were recorded so far in 2025.
Personal crime is defined in Windsor as murder, sexual assault, abduction, assault, robbery, and harassment.
As far as property crime was concerned, the trend for September was back in the right direction after a rise in August. There was a three per cent decline compared to September 2024, with 1,032 complaints logged.
Property crimes include arson, break-and-enter, fraud, mischief, and theft.
For the year to date, property crime is down 6.1 per cent against the period between January and September 2024, with 8,312 reports.
For other Criminal Code violations not covered by the other two categories, there was a slight dip year-to-year, falling just by 0.6 per cent. Offences falling into this category include child pornography, non-violent weapons offences, betting and gaming offences, and administration of justice violations.
The slowing decline in September contributed to a rise in Criminal Code violations year to date, now up by 2.4 per cent.
When checking crime figures by Windsor's ten administrative wards, Ward 3 continues to have the highest number of both property and personal offences. Ward 3 includes the downtown core.
Ward 9 reported the lowest number of personal crimes, with Ward 1 very close. Ward 1 also had the lowest number of property crime reports.
