The Detroit Lions are hosting a Lions block party in downtown Windsor on American Thanksgiving.
The family-friendly event will take over Ouellette Avenue between University Avenue and Park Street.
"Kick-off is at 1 p.m. and we'll have activities all day long. A 32-foot screen for a watch party of the game, food and beverage, family-friendly activities, face-painting, a scavenger hunt," said Emily Griffin, Detroit Lions Senior Vice President of Marketing & Brand.
The street will open to fans at 10 a.m. After the game the Jody Raffoul Band will perform live in downtown Windsor.
"If you love the Lions we'll love you back. We've seen an incredible amount of support from our fans in Windsor and throughout Canada for decades, particularly the last couple seasons," said Griffin. "It was really important to us to make a grand gesture and bring the fan experience here and allow folks to celebrate how much they love the Lions."
While the event is free, fans are encouraged to pre-register at detroitlions.com/WindsorBlockParty.
"Our community is home to a passionate and loyal Detroit Lions fanbase, and this Block Party is a fantastic way to celebrate that pride. It’s a true reflection of our shared spirit, cross-border unity, and the energy that makes Windsor-Detroit one of North America’s great sports regions," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.
