Turkey fryers were not the only things that were busy in Windsor this Thanksgiving weekend.
Joining law enforcement agencies across Ontario that took part in Operation Impact, Windsor police were busy with traffic enforcement.
Officers set up RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoints across the city to find impaired drivers. They were also on the look out for drivers who behaved aggressively, were distracted, or failed to wear seat belts.
There were 251 vehicles checked by officers at RIDE programs, but only one roadside test was conducted, resulting in a three-day suspension.
A total of 98 citations were issued for assorted infractions, including speeding, cell phone use while driving, and other offences.
"We thank all motorists who made the responsible choice to drive sober and follow the rules of the road," read a social media post from Windsor police. "Your commitment helps keep our community safe."
