The City of Windsor started the Remembrance season with a ceremonial first walk along the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255 newly painted memorial sidewalk Friday morning.
City Hall will be illuminated and Ouellette Avenue will have decorative lighting to honour veterans starting November 3.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens will be sharing veterans' stories on his social media leading up to November 11.
"There are countless stories from all sorts of different wars and different peace keeping missions and so this is a great lead up to be able to talk about veterans in general, to talk about the different wars and the service those provided in it," sad Dilkens.
The City of Windsor's official Remembrance Day service will begin at 10:50 at the Cenotaph in City Hall Square. Organizations and individuals looking to lay a wreath need to pre-register.
Museum Windsor will mark Remembrance Day with free admission and the opening of a new exhibit "Remembering the Brave: Indigenous Veterans Through History".
