The Windsor Police Service Board has named 32-year veteran Jason Crowley as the new chief of police.
Chief Crowley has been with the Windsor Police Service since 1993 and was named Deputy Chief in 2022.
"The board has given me this responsibility and I take it very seriously," said Crowley.
He indicated he's ready to make his mark on the service.
"Top priority is service delivery, (and) taking care of our members because if we don't take care of our members, our service delivery will suffer as well. So, those are my top two but there's definitely many priorities," said Crowley.
Crowley was selected after a nationwide search by the board. He has been awarded a three-year contract with the option to renew.
"Policing has become very complex and having someone in that top seat that can draw the partners that we need to address those issues is critical. So, we're very pleased today to have the name out front and centre," said Jo-Anne Gignac, WPSB Chair.
A new deputy chief will be selected in the coming months.
Crowley replaces Chief Jason Bellaire, who retires this month.
