Windsor police say officers have been kept busy this week, handling over a hundred vehicle collisions.
In a social media post, police said that officers responded to 127 collisions this week in Windsor and Amherstburg. The number of crashes coincided with a burst of winter weather.
"Our Traffic Enforcement Unit is reminding all drivers to slow down and drive with caution as winter conditions arrive," read the post on X. "Help us keep the roads safe this winter season for yourself, your passengers, and everyone around you."
Police have reminded drivers to take the following steps to stay safe on the streets.
Slow down and leave extra space between vehicles.
Clear all snow and ice from windows, lights, and mirrors.
Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.
Ensure your tires are properly inflated and winter-ready
Never drive distracted or impaired.
Windsor police have also reminded drivers that the annual Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) is underway, with additional RIDE checkpoints being set up in both municipalities.
