Windsor police say they arrested the same man twice in one hour for two separate assaults.
Officers were first called to the west-end home just before 9 a.m. on Friday. They were told a man followed a woman into a washroom, where he choked her and destroyed a mirror. He then allegedly dragged the victim by her hair into another room.
The man was arrested and taken to the Windsor Police Detention Centre.
Police report the victim then advised she did not wish to pursue criminal charges and officers were legally required to release the suspect.
Less than an hour later, the suspect allegedly returned to the same home, forcing his way in by kicking in the rear door. The victim was assaulted a second time. The suspect allegedly stole the victim's phone and struck her with a lamp.
Officers were called back to the scene where the suspect was arrested again.
The victim chose to pursue charges.
The 42-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon, assault with choking, robbery, mischief, failure to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.
