Snow prompts special weather statement for the region

Windsor-Essex is about to get a significant snowfall on Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying the region could get two to four centimetres of snow an hour before it tapers off into scattered flurries later in the day.

It's tracking a weather system headed here from Michigan, and warns residents who are travelling to take their time on the roads.

"Travel conditions may become difficult," said Environment Canada. "Visibility may be reduced to near zero at times. Consider postponing non-essential travel and outdoor activities until conditions improve."

Last week, when Windsor-Essex received the last significant dump of snow, Windsor Police responded to 127 crashes in the city and Amherstburg.

On Monday, police suggested residents take the bus instead to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.
