The Windsor-made Dodge Charger has another award to add to its collection. It's been named the Detroit Free Press Car of the Year.
The SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger has already been named the 2026 Car of the Year in this year's TopGear.com U.S. Car Awards and the 2025 Vehicle of the Year from the Detroit News.
The Dodge Charger lineup is also a finalist for the 2026 North American Car of the Year.
"The American muscle car lives," wrote Detroit Free Press auto critic Mark Phelan. "You want the home-charging convenience and surging, implacable acceleration of a 670-horsepower electric vehicle? The Charger Daytona's got you. You prefer the shake and rumble of a brawny 550-horsepower gasoline engine? The Charger has you covered, too."
The 2026 Detroit Free Press Car of the Year award is the third top honour this month for the Dodge Charger.
"Stellantis's Michigan-developed STLA Large multi-energy architecture passes its first test with flying colours, and breathtaking speed, in the gasoline-powered Charger and electric Charger Daytona two and four-door muscle cars," continued Phelan. "You can get either drivetrain with either body style, and there's plenty to love about both, including roomy, comfortable interiors and advanced, easy-to-use infotainment."
The Charger lineup also earned Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems, as well as Wards 10 Best Interiors and UX awards.
