A death investigation is underway at Walpole Island First Nation.
Just after 8 a.m. Thursday, members of the Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton OPP responded to a disturbance involving a firearm on Squirrel Island Road.
When officers arrived on scene the located a 29-year-old from Walpole Island First Nation suffering from apparent gun shot wounds.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and one individual was taken into custody without incident.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on Wednesday, January 7.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch in conjunction with Walpole Island police, the Lambton OPP Crime Unit, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
