Windsor police seized a handgun and nearly $10,000 of illegal drugs during a traffic stop this week.
Windsor police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Vine Court and Rose-Ville Garden Drive around 2 a.m. on Monday.
Responding officers stopped an involved vehicle and arrested a 21-year-old man for breaching his release conditions. During the arrest, the 50-year-old driver was taken into custody for allegedly obstructing the officers.
Officers then searched the vehicle and seized a handgun, ammunition, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, oxycodone, morphine capsules, Clonazepam, Naloxone tablets, digital scales, five cell phones, and $3,375 in cash.
Both the passenger and driver were charged with occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of an unloaded firearm, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The 50-year-old was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and obstructing a peace officer.
The 21-year-old was charged with failing to comply with a release order and possession of a prohibited firearm.
After the arrest, police connected the 21-year-old to a road rage incident that happened on January 11 in the area of Central Avenue and Tecumseh Road East. He was further charged with pointing a firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, uttering death threats, possession of a firearm without a licence, and failing to comply with a release order.
