Windsor police have announced the sad conclusion of a missing person's case.
Police on Monday said that human remains found in a remote area of northern Ontario have been positively identified as those of 37-year-old David Pavao.
"We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Pavao’s loved ones during this difficult time," read a social media post from Windsor police.
Pavao was last seen on a west Windsor street in the early morning hours of August 14, 2025. He had disappeared along with a woman who has since been found. Police believed that Pavao was murdered shortly after he vanished.
An extensive search ensued, covering wide areas of Windsor-Essex, but it failed to yield any significant clues.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported in October 2025 the discovery of human remains in Black River-Matheson Township, east of Timmins.
Four men and one woman, aged from 27 to 61, have all been arrested in connection with Pavao's murder. Charges include first-degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder, indignity to a human body, mischief, and failure to comply with a release order.
The charges have not been proven in court.
