Tecumseh council approves budget for 2026

Councillors in Tecumseh have officially adopted their mayor's budget for 2026 with a consolidated tax increase of 2.36 per cent.

The municipal portion is 2.85 per cent, but when consolidated with the education and county levies, it worked out to 2.36 per cent.

For property owners with a home assessed at $275,000, the increase works out to another $104 a year.

"This budget makes several investments in infrastructure projects that will support the growth of affordable housing, economic development opportunities, and enhance our parks and public spaces, while addressing rising affordability concerns," said Mayor Gary McNamara.

The capital budget includes $58-million for infrastructure and recreation projects, including upgrades at parks, to stormwater systems, and community facilities.
