WRH receives one-time funding increase for CT scans

Windsor Regional Hospital received $1.08 million in extra funding in the 2025-2026 fiscal year to increase CT scan availability.

The money came from one-time funding from the Ministry of Health to help reduce wait times across the province.

“Access to timely diagnostic imaging is essential to delivering high-quality patient care,” said Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor–Tecumseh. “By strengthening local hospital capacity, our government is ensuring families in Windsor–Essex receive the care they need, when they need it.”

According to Ontario Health, in December 2025 priority four patients at Windsor Regional Hospital waited an average of 260 days to receive a scan. That's well above the provincial average of 81 days. In February 2025, the average wait time for priority four patients was 222 days.

However, priority two patients receive scans same day and priority three patients receive scans in around 23 days, which are both below the provincial average.

"Windsor Regional Hospital is grateful for the province’s continued investment in diagnostic imaging,” said Nicole Krywionek, Chief Nursing Executive and VP of Diagnostic Imaging, Windsor Regional Hospital. “Our teams have been working hard to meet the growing needs of our community, and this funding helps sustain extended CT hours. We remain committed to ensuring patients across Windsor–Essex continue to receive timely access to high-quality CT services.”

The 2025-2026 fiscal year ends on March 31, 2026.
