City to residents: Get involved, keep Windsor clean

The City of Windsor hopes residents, community groups, schools, and local organizations will come out to support two initiatives to collect litter and beautify neighbourhoods.

Those two initiatives are the Spring Rose City Clean Sweep and the Adopt-A-Street Program.

Since 1989, volunteers have taken part in the annual Spring Rose City Clean Sweep to remove litter and educate the public about the environmental impacts of waste.

The city provides gloves, garbage bags, and other equipment.

Individuals or groups can register for an upcoming sweep online.

The Adopt-A-Street Program is more long-term. It invites environmentally conscious residents and groups to adopt a street for a year and clear litter. Participants are encouraged to complete at least two cleanups annually, and the city will install signage on each adopted street acknowledging their efforts.

Those interested can call 519-974-2277 ext. 3121 to register.
