Prescribed burns get underway at Ojibway Prairie Complex

If you live in the west end of Windsor and you see smoke over the coming weeks, it might be the prescribed burn in the Ojibway Prairie Complex.

Prescribed burns will get underway this month around Black Oak Heritage Park, Spring Garden Natural Area, and Tallgrass Prairie Heritage Park.

The city has used prescribed burns for 40 years to manage growth in the tallgrass prairie and oak savannah ecosystems.

The parks will be closed during the burns, and the city recommends residents in the area keep their windows closed when there is smoke in the air.
