Warden Hilda MacDonald gave her last State of the County address at the Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce's Warden's Luncheon Thursday.
MacDonald announced she will not be looking for another term as warden after the municipal elections this fall.
"I feel every municipality should have a chance at it, I don't think it should be consecutive terms; that's my personal opinion. I still plan on running for mayor, but just warden, someone else needs a crack at it," said MacDonald.
The official nomination period for municipal elections does not open until May 1, 2026.
MacDonald noted an ongoing challenge for whoever is around the table next year will be the continued growth in the community and the infrastructure needed to support it.
"It comes with a huge price tag; taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for all of that. We need to work it out with our upper levels," said MacDonald.
She'd like to see upper levels of government to step up to fund infrastructure projects like improvements to the intersection of County Road 22 and Manning Road.
