Investigators are looking for a vehicle believed to be tied to a series of "distraction thefts" in Windsor and Amherstburg.
Windsor police received at least four reports over the weekend about thefts targeting jewellery.
"In each incident, a man and woman in a white Toyota RAV4 approached an unsuspecting person," read a social media post from Windsor police. "The female passenger initiated a conversation, offered the victim a 'gift' of costume jewelry, then stole the victim’s own valuable jewelry before fleeing the scene."
The victims were all in their 70s and 80s. The incidents took place in residential areas and in parking lots.
The male suspect is described as Middle Eastern, 30 to 35 years old.
The female suspect is described as Middle Eastern, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with dark hair and dark eyes.
Residents are urged to be vigilant if a stranger tries to strike up a conversation or offer any unsolicited objects. If you are approached in this manner, refuse the gift and call Windsor police.
