CK police arrest Windsor man following weapons call

A Windsor man has been charged after a gun call in Chatham that prompted Chatham-Kent (CK) police to ask residents to shelter in place.

CK police alleged a 28-year-old man from Windsor, carrying a firearm, went to an address on Queen's Line just west of Bloomfield Road on Sunday afternoon searching for an 18-year-old female, removed her against her will, and sexually assaulted her during the ordeal.

Police added the suspect was in breach of a court-ordered release condition.

He was arrested and charged with pointing a firearm, uttering death threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, sexual assault, kidnapping, and failing to comply with a release order.

Police have determined that this was an isolated incident and noted there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation continues.
