Multicultural Council cleans up Windsor BIAs

Parts of Windsor may look a little cleaner thanks to volunteers with the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County.

Around 45 participants of the Talent Connect programs cleaned up in the Business Improvement Areas of Sandwich, Downtown, Ford City, Erie Street and Olde Riverside on Monday morning.

"It's great for their skill development in terms of getting an organized group together. It's important for the BIAs because they have a challenging environment especially with this economy and affordability and all those issues," said Brian Masse, Employment Services Specialist. "People get good skills, they meet, they network, they feel proud about our community and that's how things change. It's never done by one big giant idea, it's done by small deliberate consistent actions."

The Talent Connect initiative runs three programs and serves around 300 clients who are looking for work. The programs offer interview preparation, resume building, and other job search supports.

"I've really gained a lot from them so this is an opportunity for me to give back to the council and also to the society. It's just me adding to my experience and also helping people around," said Ademiyi Aroworade, who has been working with the MCC for two weeks.
