WRH offers job shadowing opportunities

Windsor Regional Hospital is launching a new job-shadowing initiative to give an inside look into different positions available at the hospital.

The Backstage Pass program offers people ages 16 and up a one-time, single-shift opportunity to explore a career of their choice.

“We want to expose students to the vast array of possibilities within healthcare, from direct patient care to the administrative and technical roles that keep our hospital running,” said Erin Hodgson, External Recruitment Coordinator at WRH. “By opening our doors, we are not only investing in these students’ futures but also proactively addressing long-term workforce needs in high-demand fields.”

The hospital ran a pilot of the initiative at the start of the 2025-26 school year and more than 170 students participated.

Over 30 clinical and non-clinical departments including diagnostic imaging, the Cancer Centre, pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, SLP, Social Work and lab services are participating in the program.

“This official launch marks the expansion of WRH’s commitment to regional retention, encouraging local talent to explore, train and ultimately build their professional careers right here at home in the Windsor-Essex community,” said WRH President and CEO Kristin Kennedy. “Encouraging our local students to consider a career pathway in the health care field will continue to be a top goal going forward for our organization for many years to come.”

Registrations are accepted and processed on an ongoing individual basis throughout the year. Registration can be found on the hospital's website.
