Schedule released for Experience Windsor

The City of Windsor announced details of over 50 free community events this summer and fall to enhance the staycation experience.

City council approved a $500,000 budget for Experience Windsor events to be hosted throughout the community. The funds come from the tax collected through hotel stays.

Events include Dive-in movies at community pools, the Windsor Pizza Festival, and community picnics throughout the city.

'We know that this is going to be a challenging summer for families to afford to be able to fly or go on a long road trip. They are going to want to stay home and stay local. We want to support that and make sure our businesses are strong and people have more experiences here in Windsor," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

The events are divided into three main categories: Riverfront Summer Series, Staycation Activation, and Neighbourhood Nights.

"There's something for everyone. The Riverfront theme I think, is quite obvious because one of our best natural attractions is the riverfront. Obviously, the staycation theme leads into the events with the Windsor International Film Festival, and others that are playing on local and the neighbourhood theme is bringing the party to every neighbourhood throughout all 10 wards in the City of Windsor," said Dilkens.

The Riverfront Summer Series includes a Big Picnic in Alexander Park, a speakeasy event at Legacy Park, and a drone show on Labour Day Weekend.

A full schedule of events can be found on the Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island website.
