No matter where you are, there's a celebration for Canada Day

While Canada Day may be in the middle of the week this year, that doesn't mean there aren't celebrations across the region.

Windsor

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association and the Windsor Parade Corporation invite the public to this year's Canada Day parade down Ouellette Avenue.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. at the corner of Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard, and will make its way north to Pitt Street.

It features a diverse lineup this year of more than 60 floats, marching bands, performers and community organizations. Among the highlights, the Philippine Heritage Band, The Fire Guy, the Multicultural Centre's Parade of Flags, and giant inflatables.

"Canada Day has become one of downtown Windsor's most diverse community celebrations," said Manager of Programs and Placemaking at the DWBIA, Shane Peters. "Between the Canada Day Parade and the Arts Fair, residents and visitors can enjoy a full day of entertainment, local culture, family activities, and community spirit."

While you're downtown, you might also want to check out the Canada Day Arts Fair between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on University Avenue. More than 25 local artists will be there, but there's also family activities, entertainment, and the opportunity to support local businesses.

At the corner of Ouellette Avenue and University Avenue, visitors can also stop by the Canada Day Parade Fan Zone, where they can munch on free Firecracker Timbits, get their face painted, and collect free giveaways while supplies last.
