Malden Road upgrades could mean power outages for LaSalle residents

Hydro One began work along the west side of Malden Road on Thursday on a project that is expected to cause power outages and intermittent lane restrictions.

The work started near the Cahill Bridge and will move southward along Malden Road.

The town is installing new utility poles. Once those are in, crews will start relocating hydro lines and removing the existing poles. That phase of the project is expected to take four weeks.

Residents anticipated to be impacted by power outages will receive advance notification from the Town of LaSalle.

The project is part of a larger effort along Malden Road that will eventually include bridge improvements between Cahill Drain and Morton Drive. That work will start in mid-July.

Meanwhile, the reconstruction of storm sewers along Front Road is almost complete. Paving work will be done next week, and the entire project will finish in two weeks. Once that's done, Front Road will reopen to two lanes each way.

Would Windsor host a data centre?

Windsor's mayor won't dismiss a proposed data centre out of hand if an investor came knocking, but Drew Dilkens doesn't foresee any more coming to the city.
